“Children’s Book Illustration”
Bill Thomson will give a slide presentation about his career as an illustrator.
A 1985 graduate from Syracuse University in New York, Bill has worked extensively in advertising, and most recently, has completed illustrating three children’s books. Since 2000, he has taught at the University of Hartford and is currently an Associate Professor of Illustration there. In the 1990s he taught at Tunxis Community College in Farmington, CT and also at Syracuse University.
Among his many awards was the Outstanding Teachers Award in 2004 from the University of Hartford. His artwork has won recognition in the country’s most prestigious illustration competitions, including those sponsored by the Society of Illustrators (NY), the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts and the Connecticut Art Director’s Club. He has exhibited in numerous juried exhibits in New York and across the country.
His three illustrated children’s books are Karate Hour, 2004, Building with Dad, 2006, and Baseball Hour in 2008. Bill lives and works in Southington, CT, with his wife and three sons.
Meeting at the Miller Library Senior Center, 2901 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden. The demo will be held in the Activity Room.
